FAQ
The HOA collects annual dues from each household that are due by April 15th each year. The dues help us maintain our park, circles, and entrances.
Each year the neighborhood votes on whether to keep the dues the same for the next year, or to increase them.
The dues for 2023 and 2024 are:
- $265 for interior homes
- $90 for exterior homes (on 17th or High streets)
The neighborhood streets are not private, so we can report any issues to the city.
We have had good success with using the city’s UPLINK app where you can submit pictures and descriptions of issues.
The board welcomes you to volunteer to help out! We have one or two annual park cleanup events, and we welcome members looking to join the board. Please use the Contact Form to let us know you are interested.
Each year we ask in the annual mailing if you would like your name, email, or phone included in our contact list.
If you opt-in, your information will be included in the April mailing.
If you have a mid-year update and would like to change your preference or contact information, let us know on the Contact page so we can make sure to get it fixed for the next mailing.
We have discussed trying organic fertilizers with our contractors while still spot-spraying some of our invasive species (like Nutgrass and Creeping Charlie).
The contractors put down fertilizer four times a year, and the first two of those applications do include some herbicides to keep the weeds down. All four applications do include flagging in the park and circles to let everyone know when the application has occurred.
We continually work with our contractors to balance a great looking park with using the minimal amount of herbicides and pesticides.
The board does not have any power to enforce upkeep, noise, or other issues.
Our bylaws and original subdivision pamphlet are available in the documents section, but for most issues we refer you to the municipal codes.
You can definitely use the park for a public event, just let the board know the date and time. We’ve had weddings and other celebrations in our park and welcome you to enjoy it with your family and friends.
Our bylaws stipulate:
- USE OF PARK BY NON-WOODSSHIRE RESIDENTS (Approved 3/2003)
Any request to use the park for any social function shall be approved by the Governing Board with the following conditions:
- Application must be made to the Governing Board;
- The applicant must be sponsored by a Woodsshire resident;
- The applicant must be liable for any damage to the park and be responsible for any repair.
The board has looked into paying for plowing and if we can salt our streets, especially around the circles.
We would need to vote on a budget item for plowing, and it could be a significant percentage of our budget. We would need to find a licensed and bonded contractor willing to service our streets and decide how to budget for that with variability of snowfall.
Oversalting can lead to issues with runoff, but putting down some salt in trouble spots is OK as long as we don’t overdo it.
